SOTC to enter B2C e-commerce space by November this year :
To focus on adventure tourism packages online
SOTC, the outbound travel division of Kuoni Travel Group India, plans to introduce a travel portal, which will provide a comprehensive range of services for B2C clients. The division is looking at introducing the portal around November this year. The company is also looking at strengthening its presence in activity based tourism through acquisition of companies operating adventure tourism activities. SOTC is already incorporating river rafting, hot-air ballooning, trekking, etc. in the existing holiday packages. The online model of SOTC will be enhanced by online payment gateways, various domestic and international tour packages, car rentals, foreign exchange, travel insurance services, visas, passport services and others.“We will incorporate all the services required by our clients steadily on our portal. We will not introduce the services as and when the demand goes up,” said Sunil Gupta, COO – India and South Asia – Outbound division, SOTC. Elaborating on the plans for the portal, Gupta said, “As the travel industry is moving towards online services rapidly, we want to keep up with the changes sweeping across the industry. The division is aiming to sell tour packages online instead of pushing air ticketing and hotel bookings as most of the online travel agents do the same. The online trend entered India about three to four years back, but it is now that Indian travellers are getting used to it. We are going to provide safe online payment options so that clients are assured about the safety.”
